Spirit Week 2019

Happy Spirit Week.  Here is the scoop for our week ahead...

Math:  We are beginning our geometry unit.  We will begin with attributes of shapes this week.

ELA:  Last week we wrapped up our then and now unit by making butter.  Students shook up heavy cream in jars until it turned to butter, and then we tried our butter on top of some crackers.  Most liked it, some did not.  This week we will be researching and studying penguins and Antarctica.

Science:  We will begin our final science unit of the year, sound.

Social Studies:  The students are still going strong learning about Incas, Aztecs, and Mayans.  They are putting together a really cool cumulative project for this unit, and I can't wait for them to share the final project.

Spirit Week:  One day down, 4 to go. Rest of week is as follows:

Tuesday - Crazy Hair Day

Wednesday - Favorite Sports Team

Thursday - Backwards Day

Friday - Future Self Day

Harkins Field Trip:  Our field trip to the movie theatre was awesome.  Our students were very well behaved, and the Penguin movie was great.  Below are a few pictures from our fun day.

Heritage Square:  Grab your chairs, next Thursday, May 2nd is our final Suzuki Violin Performance of the year.  This event will be held at Heritage Square in beautiful downtown Flagstaff.  It will begin at noon.  We will need a few parents to walk to and from the square with us.  Permission slips and volunteer forms should be going out soon.  All family and friends are welcome to join us downtown.  Please make sure to wear sunscreen and a hat, it has been known to get rather warm. Also, please make sure to sunscreen your child this day, and have them wear a hat as well.  Students will also need to wear a blue Marshall t-shirt if they have one.  If not, a blue shirt of any kind will do.  If you can transport a case of water for us, please let me know.  I am buying the water, but if someone can get it to the square ahead of time it would be helpful so that we do not have to carry it ourselves. Just let me know via email or agenda.  Thank you.

Hope everyone had a happy Easter weekend. -Ms. Shaw
